The majority of young people today working in the design, visual art and entertainment industries are experts in computer technology and have good tendencies towards art and design but are not adequately trained to draw and paint professionally or use photography at a commercial level and are unable to express the visual ideas that is required in these industries.

The program is designed to meet the needs for advanced training and education in the fields of photographic imaging, digital mani-pulation, digital and traditional illustration for new multimedia applications.

The term Digital Imaging refers to static digital photography, digitally enhanced photography, computer generated imaging as well as time based imaging including photographic animation, web based animation, digital video, special effects in cinema and new media, multimedia and computer generated technology used in the arts, entertainment, design and film and video industry.

The term Illustration refers to both traditional illustration skills and digital illustration including digitally enhanced hand drawn images, vector or postscript computer generated illustration, hand drawn digital illustration using a graphics tablet and computer generated illustration for time based and interactive multimedia including web page design, interface design and animation used in various moving image and multimedia applications.

The synergy of these two areas of design is structured to positively encourage the creative exploitation of digital and traditional media in the pursuit of innovative forms of expression and communication. Graduates explore and develop the necessary skills to become highly valued, forward thinking, creative, multi-skilled designers. The course is focused towards developing exciting and dynamic visual products for the web, interactive installation arts, interactive presentation, environmental installation art, and film and television graphics. The programme enjoys a close relationship with the subject areas of graphic design, time-based media, cinema language and animation.

Entry requirements

∙ 2 principals STPM/'A' levels or equivalent or
∙ 5 credits SPM/'O' levels or equivalent and
∙ Limkokwing's Foundation in Communication

Students with a recognised certificate or diploma in a related field will be given advanced standing into the degree programme.
