Many economists and economies estimate, depending on your definition and what is considered, that tourism is the world's single biggest industry both in monetary and employment terms. Tourism has become a lifestyle choice for many people in the developed world. Tourism will be one of the largest industrial sectors in these economies. It can be the single largest industrial sector for less well-developed economies.

Malaysia, in recognising the revenue potential of tourism, has made the successful development of tourism a major economic goal. This is designed to build on the success of the fast-growing tourism industry in Malaysia.

This programme is designed to provide
students with:
∙ A thorough understanding of the nature of tourism
  and its economic consequences. In addition
  students will consider the environment impact of
  tourism and look so sustainable tourism
  opportunities as an alternative
∙ The creation and training of emplyable graduates to
  assist in the development of the tourism industry
∙ The injection of a higher level of professionalism
  into the industry
∙ The development and enhancement of necessary   skills and creativity to promote Malaysia   successfully both as an attraction for its own people   and as a destination of choice for overseas visitors
∙ A stronger position and know-how to make a   significant contribution to the financial success of   Malaysia or another country

The BA (Hons) in Tourism Management will give students the opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to function in a multi-disciplined and complex industry.

On completion of the course, they will:
∙ Be able to work successfully in a range of different
  tourism and understand the connectivity
  between the different sectors and their role within
  the whole
∙ Have acquired the analytical and creative skills to
  make a useful contribution to a country's economy.
∙ Have the skills to assist in the planning and   development of a more successful tourism industry
∙ Have the marketing skills required to promote a   complex industry and successfully contribute to the   unique branding of Malaysia Bhd.
∙ Have sound business skills to underpin decision-   making across the tourism industry

Entry requirements

∙ 3 principals STPM/'A' levels or equivalent or
∙ 5 credits SPM/'O' levels or equivalent and
∙ Limkokwing's Foundation in Business

Students with recognised prior learning such as Pre-University, Matriculation programme, or a diploma in a related field will be given advanced standing into the degree programme.
